Proverbs 31 Woman~Week 3

~ Week 3 of Proverbs 31 Woman~

Yes, I know and I apologise that I skipped week 2 of Proverbs 31 But I will catch us up to speed! You can read the beginning HERE of Proverbs 31 on my blog. If you are just joining us and want to begin that's GREAT! I first began with Good Morning Girls and you can see their beginning HERE.  You can download their ebook when you subscribe to them and than you can also print out the study guide and the reading plan. Don't forget to watch each video as they inspire us to reach for our Bibles and pray for God's help to become the wife and mother God is wanting us to be.

I will start with week 2: We read Proverbs 31:10 "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies."  Just like a Ruby, a noble wife is special and a treasure to her husband. We need to learn to be a noble wife for our husbands. A noble wife needs to be willingly, cheerfully attend to her housework, take care of her husband and her kids. She doesn't mope around, overspends, gossip, or  spends her day doing leisurely activities. She doesn't let her outer beauty take precedence over her inner beauty and she most certainly doesn't take God's word lightly. We must be willing to change our attitudes, our thoughts, our work ethic, our words, and our time, and with GOD'S grace we CAN become a noble character. I know I need to change my ways of thinking and take God's word more seriously and try to be more thankful for what I do have. I have so much and their are those with so little.  Be sure to read Proverbs 31:4, Proverbs 18:22 and Proverbs 19:14.

Proverbs 31:11 says "Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value." Can your husband trust you to spend money wisely? to train your children wisely? run an orderly home? Can he trust you not to speak poorly of him behind his back? Can he trust you to remain faithful? Can he trust you to be self-controlled under pressure and to make wise choices?  Now, we all make mistakes but a Proverbs 31 woman's husband needs to have FULL confidence in her. I know I need to work a little more on having some self control. That's my lacking right there. But I know my husband can trust me in other areas, but I do continue to pray, and through God's grace, work on the other areas in my life. Can your husband trust you? What areas can you change in your life? Take them up to prayer!

You can read Good Morning Girls week 2 HERE. I encourage you to be in prayer to help you become more of the Proverbs 31 Woman. Its going to take some time, work, discipline, and dedication but we can do it. Print off her ebook, reading plan, and study guide to help you through it!

Week 3: Today we read through Proverbs 31:12 "She bring him good, not harm, all the days of her life.". Meaning we need to DO good for our men. Not just think about it or talk about it, but DO GOOD to our husbands first and foremost. Our goodness comes from our walk with God. She is willing to put in her effort to provide meals, a clean home, raise their kids, and learns to stretch the dollars. She is willing to respond to him and love him, not critiz him. She knows the power of her words and uses them for good and not harm.  She is wise to understand her power of influences to persuade her husband and allow for them to lead us (Ephesians 5). And she does all of this all the days of her life through God. Even if your marriage is struggling, draw closer to God and see your marriage through. Not only do you need each other, but your children do too. By fearing God, you can "bring your husband good for the rest of your life." Your walk with God is important, especially in a struggling marriage. You can't control your husbands relationship with God, just your own. But faithfully pray, read God's word, and obey it and it will change its course over time.

You can read  Week 3 with the Good Morning Girls and don't forget to watch each video. These ladies are very inspirationall and they are in my prayers as well, as so are you!  You can also read "Pursuit of Proverbs 31" ebook for extra rescources. I just LOVE both their ebooks!

SUN Safety Tips

See those blisters on my big man's shoulders? THAT is what we have been dealing with on his first week of summer break. A family member decided to take the boys swimming with her 3 kids last Wednesday, and well, she forgot to apply the sun block. I usually do apply the sunblock but since she had some I didn't think to apply it.  Both my boys and one of her boys was VERY red and VERY burned. But big man got the worse of it. On the 3rd day, he ended up with blisters that grew. By Sunday, they were HUGE and gross! No, joke! One of them managed to get a small hole and healed pretty nicely, the other however ended up busting when he accidentally hit. and well..

That's what it turned to be (I had a hard time taking pics because he was a little embarrassed so I didn't get the other side.). Needless to say, I bought 3 bottles of sunscreen! The poor guy hurt so badly and he hasn't been able to wear a shirt for 4 or 5 days now. This pic was taking TODAY! We have applied the aloe, sprayed on some "Solarcaine" (cool aloe for burn relief), and gave him Ibuprofen. He has been in a LOT of pain and well, its just been a bad experience that we hope to never experience again.

So, with all of this sunburn issue, along with summer approaching and the simple facts that skin cancer is in my family.  I felt a little compelled to write a post on sun facts and safety! So here are a few tips I have collected from Sun Safety Alliance.

FACTS:
  • Sand, water, concrete, and snow reflect 85%-90% of the UV rays!
  • Generally 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. are when sun rays are its strongest.
  • Cloudy or snowy, you can still burn
  • Children gets 3 times more exposure than adults
  • Depletion of Earth's ozone continues to increase your exposure to UV rays.
  • Melanoma is increasing at rates faster than any other skin cancer (in most parts of the world)
  • More than 1.2 Million (gulp) new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year in U.S.
  • Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer and kills one person every hour.
  • One blistering sunburn can double a child's lifetime risk of developing skin cancer (DOUBLE GULPS)
Safety Tips:
  • Remember that sun rays are strongest from 10-4
  • Wear dark and tightly woven clothing or sun protective clothing
  • Hat and sunglasses are great ideas
  • DON'T USE TANNING BEDS!
  • Keep VERY YOUNG (6 months and under) out of sun
  • Use sunscreen every hour and over exposed skin. SPF 30 or HIGHER is better
  • Reapply after swimming, towling off, or perspiring.
  • Keep in shaded areas. Trees, tents, any shaded areas in your yard for playing outside
  • Use shading screen in your home
  • Talk to your kids about "sun safety"
  • and as always, SET A GOOD EXAMPLE OF SUN SAFETY! Remember, as a parent, YOU are your child's teacher, they look to you! So, if you don't care, they wont either.
Check out their website and talk to your child's doctor about sun screen and protection. I urge you to take the time and apply any and all necessary steps it takes into protecting you and your child from skin cancer. You can also print out a coupon for Sunscreen skin products in the coupon page!

If you have any tips on protecting your child from the sun, PLEASE SHARE!!!

The boys went swimming the other day and both the boys are as red as red can get! *OUCH* Big man even has blisters on both his shoulders. One of them is really big and gross. We have been to rummage sales and picked up some great finds, made lemonade, and just had a great time playing.

Hearts-at-Home Blog Hope: How Has Being a Mom Changed You

"Momma said there'd be days like this..."

Welcome to this month's Hearts-at-Home blog hop! This month we are talking about how has being a mom changed you?

I became a mom at a very young age. I was 18 and fresh out of high school when my oldest came along. I had went from being a kid in school to growing up in a very short time. Than to be a single mom a year after. During that time SO much has changed. I had giving up all my child est ways to be a full responsible adult having to carry all responsibilities. I wanted to make sure my son had all his needs met. I went to school to better my education and worked so that MY son could have a better life. It was hard, but everything I did I wanted to do for my son. To better our family. Now, 8 years and 2 siblings later God has directed me to become a sibling  referee, cook from scratch, couponing, going green, use more kid friendly cleaning, organized, stay at home mom. I do things so much differently than I did than. I pray harder and more often than I have ever prayed in my life to be the wife and mom my kids God wants me to be. I find myself volunteering more and reciting God's message in daily events.  I do more projects and events and finding ways to make new traditions for my family. At the end of the day, all the hair pulling and breaking up fights has been done, I thank God for the changes in my life and because I now know that this is how not only better my family, but myself as well. I am blessed beyond belief!

Thank you You Tube and the family providing this cute video, its just fitting and plus, it reminds me of my family!

Proverbs 31 Woman

Proverbs 31 Woman Series

I have studied the Proverbs 31 for sometime now. When I first studied it, I read through "Pursuit of Proverbs 31" by Amy Bayliss on my kindle. Which I really enjoyed but I am also reading through Women Living Well ebook "Proverbs 31 Woman-One Virtue at a Time" (you can download the ebook when you subscribe to their website).

A little background on Proverbs 31:  Its about a Prince, Prince Lemuel of Massa, who will one day become King. His mother taught him how to be a good  King (verses 2-9) and what to look for in a woman (10-31).  When you first read through the Proverbs it can be overwhelming and a bit confusing. When I first read the passage I was a bit surprised at how much work was really involved. It was a bit overwhelming to me. I had no desire to buy land and tend to vineyard. But I do have the desire to be the woman God wants me to be and the woman that my family needs me to be. I wanted to be THAT woman! She is more than buying land and tending to vineyard. She works hard for her family and knows how to properly provide for her family. Not only do I desire to be her but I also have this wish for my own sons, to find that Godly woman who has that willingness to work hard for her family and that wish for my daughter as well. To be the woman God wants her to be and to have the same willingness. For that wish to come true, I have to model that in my own life.

Follow us each week as we begin our studies as Proverbs 31 women, either here with me or with Women Living Well, as we learn more about this woman and how to be like her. This is week 1 of our studies and we will go through this the entire summer (14 weeks). First Open your Bibles to Proverbs 31, pray, read it over carefully, and pray some more. Than go to Women Living Well to learn more about how we got started and to download her ebook!

Join us each week as we learn more about this woman!
